Arabian Nights – The story of a store

So, a few weeks ago, I was asked to come down to Colaba, to take a look at the Arabian Nights store, on Arthur Bunder Road. Now, I know what you’re thinking, and no, it’s not that.

Arabian Nights is a store and brand that hosts an infamous social glue : the Hookah. “But weren’t they banned or something?”, you ask. Not for personal purchase and use in the privacy of your own home. In many cases, people buy these objects because of their aesthetic beauty. A hookah is not just a device for social smoking, it’s a piece of art.

For the more adventurous, there’s even a ‘rocket-shaped hookah’!

Arabian Nights’ store in Colaba has brought out a new line of gorgeous hookahs, and to complement it, a multitude of new herbal flavours with no nicotine or tar.

Add to this a brand new line of perfumes and Ittars, for men and women, produced in-house to ensure quality.

For those of us present, it was an interesting new experience, and we definitely left smelling a little better than when we went in.

You can find the store easily enough, it’s bang opposite Basilico on Colaba’s Arthur Bunder Road, and you should definitely pop in.

  1. At your first sentence, I actually wondered if you were going to talk about Middle Eastern dance bars, but no.

Ittar usually irritates my nose, as does the smoke from hookahs (whether nicotine-filled or barely flavoured) due to my smoke/dust allergy.

However, these look really pretty. I can totally picture a rich kid buying it to make the house look pretty and then use it while the ‘rents are out of town. Good clicks, and ideas for wedding gifts in the future (:D)

  2. I’m impressed, I have to admit. Really seldom do I come across a blog that’s equally educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have reach the toenail on the go. Your concept is outstanding; the issue is something not enough people are speaking smartly about. I’m very happy that I stumbled across this specific in my look for something relating to this.

  3. Good job scouting this place out, Jai! Those are some gorgeous pieces of smoking equipment. These sheeshas look even better than the ones I came across in stores in Bahrain and they look like they are of a much better quality than the ones sold in the Haji Ali/Cuffe Parade area. Very, very pleased Mumbai has a dedicated sheesha store now!
